Salary: €90,000 – €115,000 + performance bonus 

Discover’s client is undergoing a multi-year platform transformation programme, evolving from a monolithic architecture to a highly scalable, event-driven microservices ecosystem hosted in the cloud.

The platform supports high transaction volumes across multiple European markets, requiring low latency, high resilience, and strict security standards.

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will help shape the architecture powering real-time processing systems, ensuring long-term scalability and technical excellence.

You will not only contribute code but actively influence architectural standards, reliability engineering, and performance optimisation strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build high-throughput microservices in a cloud-native environment

  • Develop APIs and event-driven workflows

  • Improve scalability and resilience across distributed systems

  • Contribute to architectural decisions and long-term system evolution

  • Implement observability best practices (monitoring, tracing, logging)

  • Mentor engineers and drive engineering quality standards
