What You’ll Be Doing:
As a Senior SAP ABAP Developer, you will:
- Design, develop and enhance robust, secure and scalable SAP solutions that support critical business operations.
- Develop clean, maintainable and well-tested code, championing development best practices and high-quality standards.
- Work closely with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an agile environment, contributing ideas and driving continuous improvement.
- Take ownership of your work from design through to delivery, ensuring solutions provide real business value.
- Investigate and resolve production issues, carrying out root cause analysis and implementing long-term improvements.
- Keep up to date with emerging SAP technologies and industry trends, helping to drive innovation across the technology function.
We’re looking for someone with:
- Strong commercial experience developing with SAP ABAP, including both procedural and object-oriented programming.
- Experience working with the SAP Data Dictionary.
- Knowledge of ALV Reporting, User Exits and BADIs.
- A solid understanding of application design, development best practices and software quality.
- Experience building scalable, high-performance solutions within high-volume transactional environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform root cause analysis and communicate technical solutions clearly.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience across a range of SAP modules would be beneficial, with exposure to retail or similar high-volume environments considered an advantage.
Desirable Skills:
Experience with any of the following would be highly advantageous:
- Agile software delivery methodologies.
- SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP).
- CI/CD pipelines, including automated integration, functional and end-to-end testing.
- SAP Forms (Adobe Forms and Smart Forms).
- RESTful ABAP Development.
- CDS Views.
- SAP Gateway and API development.
- SAP UI5 development or the ability to quickly adapt to front-end SAP technologies.
